In the Vedic tradition the lotus is the “the flower that was in the Beginning”.

The open lotus (in full bloom) symbolises the cosmos emerging from the beginning of time and order as the Flower of Light – the interaction of the creative forces of fire and water.
It brings together spirit and matter,the source of all existence.

The lotus flower also blooms and thrives in the midst of dirty waters. The flower floats easily, unsullied by the mud. This is the divine soul in each of us that grows from trials, troubles and challenges.

In full bloom, the lotus is expansion, enlightenment, the heart, and the cosmic wheel of manifestation.
